The Campo Marte Arena last night was bedlam. Under the sky of Brescia, Gemitaiz put together 20 years of career in 2 hours without a moment's decline.
The live: No frills, just stage, band and microphone. Gemitaiz entered on “David” and the Arena immediately hit the ground running. The underlying theme of the evening was clear: technique first of all. Every double rhyme, every joint, every pause came clear even without study.
He alternated new pieces with those that made history: from “Despite it all” to “Poison 7”until “Excuse me” which turned off the lights and turned on thousands of cell phones. Highest moment? When he pulled out “Keanu Reeves” and the whole Arena acted as a chorus, verse by verse, without missing a word.
On stage he remained concentrated, very few speeches. He let the pieces speak. The live band gave more weight to the beats, especially on the newer songs, making them more “rock” than the studio versions.
The atmosphere: Campo Marte was full, transversal. There were those from the first hour with the faded sweatshirts of 2013 and a lot of new kids. Brescia responded presently: loud choirs, orderly moshpit, zero mess off stage.
