After making $124 million at the box office opening weekend, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is inspiring a flood of merchandise tied to the ancient epic poem. The latest designs aren’t trying to recreate movie posters or plaster the titular character’s face across another basic graphic tee. Instead, a growing collection of “Odysseus World Tour” T-shirts is making the rounds online, imagining the Greek hero’s legendary 20-year journey home as a concert tour.

The apparel is complete with tongue-in-cheek “tour” dates and stops through Troy, the Island of the Cyclopes, Aeaea, Ogygia, and eventually, Ithaca. If Odysseus really had taken his epic voyage on the road as a musical world tour, I’d have bought tickets. Then again, I already often listen to ancient-inspired music while writing, and yes, I did have Ludwig Göransson’s The Odyssey soundtrack playing while writing this to get into the mythical zone. Travis Scott brings a welcoming, modern edge to ‘When I’m Home,’ while the song nobody is supposed to hear — I’m looking at you, Sirens — had me feeling a little woozy when I played it on full blast in my AirPods. Intentional? I think so.

Available on Etsy and Amazon, these satirical “world tour” Odyssey shirts come in a wide range of colors, adult and youth sizes, and feel more like vintage band merch than traditional movie memorabilia.

The artwork features Odysseus’ ship battling stormy seas, framed by ancient Greek columns and a classical temple, giving the shirt the appearance of a faded concert poster from mythology’s greatest headliner.

The back lists the hero’s legendary “tour,” transforming his decades-long struggle to return home into a fictional series of stops across the Mediterranean.
