Available on all digital platforms from Friday 19 June 2026 of the Piedmontese singer-songwriter Currant. “Indebted”this is the title of the song, is an ironic and bitter confession, a first-person story of those who find themselves “clean” not only in their bank account, but also in their illusions.
Between sarcasm and truth, the protagonist goes through his economic defeat as if it were a comedy: evictions, protests, kind loan sharks and a foreclosure officer who becomes a surreal character. The tone is light, but the message is profound: behind the laughter there is the awareness of a system that consumes and deceives. With direct and theatrical writing, and with a rhythm that alternates irony and melancholy, “Indebitato” is a song that transforms defeat into a story, shame into truth, and truth into art.
“Indebitato is an ironic tale of a reality that many know. I wanted to transform defeat into something human, almost comical, because sometimes laughing is the only way to face the truth. It is a song that talks about debts, but not only economic ones: those we have with ourselves, with choices, with life.” (Currant)
CURRANT
Curranta Piedmontese singer-songwriter, began composing songs at a very young age, studying singing, piano and programming as a self-taught. In the years to come he continued his studies of piano and harmony, dedicating himself specifically to the topics of pattern sequencing and computer music of which he is a passionate lover. This is followed by a period of in-depth study of the typical arrangements of the 80s new wave with particular attention to the electronic pop typical of that era (Pet Shop Boys, Duran Duran, Tears for Fears…). He participates with great enthusiasm in several revival evenings, drawing lifeblood from them for his own musical inspiration. Subsequently, various collaborations in heterogeneous musical fields will lead to a clear evolution of the compositional style, orienting it towards more typically singer-songwriter sounds. The current production represents a natural compendium of this, fitting into today's context of re-evaluation of the typical sounds of the Eighties: the “pop” decade par excellence.
