Thin Lizzy it will also be available in a 4-LP box set and as a double LP with colored vinyl.
Thin Lizzy held their first concert on February 13, 1970; the exact location remains a matter of dispute between the band and their first manager, but one thing is certain: it was in Dublin. Within a few months, the band released their debut single “The Farmer” for Parlophone, a copy in perfect condition today can be worth up to £1000. After a concert in November 1970, the band received a record offer from Decca Records and the following February they were already in London recording their first album with producers Scott English and Nick Tauber. While traveling to London, Philip Lynott met John Peel, who, a few months later, would give the band an appearance on his BBC Radio 1 show and remain a supporter for years to come.
The album was not very successful upon release, but the band did not give up and released the EP “New Day”this time produced by Tauber alone, in August of the same year. The band only achieved chart success at the end of 1972 with their rendition of “Whiskey In The Jar”a song that would haunt them for the rest of their career, but this 3-CD/Blu-Ray/4-LP set shows the fledgling band's first steps on the road to stardom.
Celebrating the 55th anniversary of Thin Lizzy's debut album, these deluxe CD and LP editions include rarities, BBC sessions and previously unreleased music. The digital version will also offer Dolby Atmos for the first time. Richard Whittaker has made a new stereo mix of the album, included on the CD and 2LP vinyl version. The 4LP version includes the album and 3 rarities discs, some of which are released on vinyl for the first time. The 3CD/Blu-Ray set includes a 40-page booklet with extensive bio-recording notes by Mojo journalist Mark Blake, as well as memorabilia.
