Six years after “Punisher”, Phoebe Bridgers has finally announced her solo return. The new album, entitled “Lost Weekend”, will be released on August 14th via Dead Oceans and will represent the third work under his name, after “Stranger In The Alps” (2017) and the already famous “Punisher” (2020).
The announcement comes at the end of a series of special concerts that have fueled fans' anticipation. During the spring, the American singer-songwriter embarked on a surprise tour of small venues, with shows without cell phones and announced only a few hours before the start. The initiative culminated with a symbolic one-dollar concert at Madison Square Garden in New York, where Bridgers presented numerous previously unreleased songs that now seem destined to be included in the new album.
In the years following “Punisher”, Phoebe focused mainly on the boygenius adventure together with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus. The success of “The Record”, accompanied by a long world tour and important recognition at the Grammy Awards, had temporarily overshadowed his solo career.
Immediately after the concert at Madison Square Garden, Bridgers also announced a new arena tour scheduled for the second half of the year, also characterized by the “phone-free” policy. In the same weeks she also announced the closure of the Saddest Factory brand, the label she founded within Dead Oceans, due to a legal dispute linked to the name.
For the moment they have not been released either tracklist nor further details on “Lost Weekend”. However, some images from the recording sessions have fueled speculation about the possible participation of Matty Healy, Jack Antonoff and Alex G, the latter already confirmed as the opening guest of the tranche North American tour.
“Lost Weekend” will be available August 14th on Dead Oceans. Preorder here.
