A listen that leans delicately on the ear, without ever attacking it, the type of music that doesn't need to scream to be noticed. “Squares”, released on June 5, 2026, belongs exactly to this category.
The single was born from the meeting between Melty Groove — power trio composed of Alice Costa (bass and vocals), Edoardo Luparello (drums and vocals) and Carlo Peluso (keyboards and vocals) — and the rapper Bo Rascomoving on a soft and warm groove with enveloping and light sounds, where everything is based on the essential and the superfluous disappears. Even the voice chooses not to force; it does not seek the acute at all costs, but tells the dynamics of contemporary relationships, made up of patterns and fragility.
The title itself reflects the nature of the piece through a precise geometric metaphor inspired by the historic blocks of Turin: there is a formal, but never rigid, structure capable of uniting the improvisation and expressive freedom of jazz with the immediacy of contemporary pop.
It's the type of track that finds its ideal dimension when you feel the need to turn down the volume of the outside world, or when you're looking for a discreet soundtrack to think, drive in the evening or share a moment with someone without the obligation to fill the silence. After touring the clubs with the energy of their album “Free Hands”, with this song the band inaugurates a new artistic chapter which acts as a trailblazer towards the next album entirely in Italian, scheduled for 2027.
THE Melty Groove they do not chase the shock effect or the passing trend, but seek duration over time; “Quadrati” doesn't demand attention out loud, it asks for it kindly and, once obtained, repays it in full.
