Eddie Vedder, leader of Pearl Jam, has shared the new single “Better Believe”, created together with the young musicians of the Chicago Guitars Over Guns collective. The song was performed live for the first time on June 18 during the inauguration ceremony of the Obama Presidential Center.
“Better Believe” was born from an initiative promoted by the Obama Foundation which involved the Pearl Jam frontman and Guitars Over Guns, a non-profit organization committed to the artistic and human support of young people from complex social contexts. The proceeds generated by the individual will be allocated entirely to the association's activities.
The song was co-written by Vedder with Giselle Castro, Andre “Add-2” Daniels, Jeremiah Fristoe, Mason Harris, Michael “Myskie” Hightower, Naomi Owens, Joy Viltz and Iya Waters. Andrew Watt, Andre “Add-2” Daniels, Paul LaMalfa and Vedder himself worked on the production.
The recordings took place at Columbia College Chicago and involved students, alumni and young artists linked to Guitars Over Guns, under the supervision of Andre “Add-2” Daniels, professor and regional director of the organization.
