“Better Believe” is a song with a strong symbolic and social value, co-written and performed by Eddie Vedder together with the young artists of the collective of Chicago Guitars Over Guns. The song made its live debut on the occasion of the Obama Presidential Center Dedication, the celebratory event held on Thursday 18 June, giving the audience a moment of great emotional intensity and confirming once again the artist's commitment to supporting projects capable of generating a positive impact on society.
“Better Believe” was born thanks to the initiative of the Obama Foundation, which favored the meeting between Eddie Vedder And Guitars Over Gunsgiving life to a collaboration with strong social and cultural value. What makes this project even more significant is its charitable purpose: all the proceeds generated by “Better Believe” will in fact be donated to Guitars Over Gunsa non-profit organization committed to the personal and artistic development of young people from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. This extraordinary initiative is the result of the joint work of artists, students, authors, producers, sound engineers and performers, united in the desire to transform music into a powerful tool for inclusion and social change. Students and alumni of the Audio Arts department of Columbia College Chicago, where the song was recorded, also took part in the creation of the song, together with the young musicians of the non-profit organization, in a synergy made possible by the musician and teacher “Add-2” Daniels, associate professor of Columbia College Chicago and regional director of Guitars Over Guns.
“Better Believe” was written by Eddie Vedder along with Giselle Castro, Andre “Add-2” Daniels, Jeremiah Fristoe, Mason Harris, Michael “Myskie” Hightower, Naomi Owens, Joy Viltz and Iya Waters. The production is signed by Andrew Watt, Andre “Add-2” Daniels, Paul LaMalfa and Eddie Vedder. The recording, made at Columbia College Chicago, was handled by sound engineers Anthony Abruzzo and Jacob Araiza, with additional contributions from Joey Fraider, Grace Kay, Kathrynn Vettas and John Burton. The musicians and performers involved include Eddie Vedder on vocals, guitar and backing vocals, Joy Viltz, Giselle Castro, Naomi Owens, Michael “Myskie” Hightower and Mason Harris on vocals, Jeremiah Fristoe, Andre “Add-2” Daniels and Mark Anderson on backing vocals, Isabella Santillan on guitar, Ayden Smith on bass, Cassidy Lee on drums and Josh Klinghoffer on keyboards.
