Legendary broadcaster Bob Harris has decided to step down from BBC Radio 2 after over five decades due to “ill health”, and described the move as “one of the hardest decisions of my life”. He has shared a statement explaining that the move was done due to health issues, and expressing what it meant to be a part of the station – which he describes as the “Champions League” – for 30 years. “It’s incredible to think…

San Francisco trio Midrift are one of alternative music’s fastest-rising names. Arriving at a time where shoegaze is at its commercial peak – and where almost anything drenched in reverb and emotional ambiguity gets labelled as such – ‘Silhouette’ finds Midrift stepping directly into that conversation. But as the album buckles beneath the weight of its influences, it’s sometimes difficult to tell exactly what the band themselves are trying to say. The group have already amassed millions of streams through viral singles like ‘Twin Flames’ and ‘Unrequited’, building momentum through support slots with Fleshwater and Angel Du$t, and even landed…

“Speak Speak” is the new single from Latitude 45a song that tells with irony and lucidity the difficulty of enjoying a moment of break without being continually interrupted by the chaos of everyday life. The piece comes to life around a simple and universal scene: a beer at the bar which quickly becomes the meeting (and clash) point between nostalgia, unexpected conversations and sudden presences. Between the “good old days” evoked by nostalgics and friends who re-emerge from the past, the quiet dissolves, leaving room for a continuous flow of stimuli and distractions. Two years ago, HorsegiirL told NME that “making people happy is something I take quite seriously”. The masked German DJ (a.k.a. Stella Stallion) claims to have been discovered by chance by one “Whitney Horseton”, so when her songs ‘My Barn My Rules’ and ‘My Little White Pony’ went viral, Miss Stallion saddled up and became a festival staple. Soon, she was performing at hallowed techno spaces like Berghain, HÖR, Detroit’s Movement Festival – but just as quickly as she had risen, the DJ was having a proper mare thanks to severe burnout. It's good news to find Social Distortion again. Not only because “Born To Kill” arrives fifteen years after the last album of unreleased songs and Mike Ness' well-known health vicissitudes, but above all because the band proves to still be fully recognizable and artistically vital. The most comforting aspect of the album is that it does not simply certify the survival of the group. On the contrary, it reaffirms with conviction all the elements that have defined its identity: rough and dusty guitars, essential but incisive riffs, melodies with a strong emotional impact and that peculiar synthesis between punk rock,…
