Every musician likely taps their fingers on every surface or slaps pencils on their legs. Now there’s a better way to play music while you’re on-the-go: Aeroband’s new PocketDrum 2 Ultra.
The device includes two lightweight motion-sensing drumsticks that translate your movements into virtual sound, and you get tactile feedback to help connect every strike to a beat. The device boasts a 127-level dynamic response, which, in plain English, means it’ll be able to register everything from small, gentle taps to more enthusiastic hits. A built-in gyroscope with an 8,000 Hz sampling rate captures strike angle and intensity in real time. The sticks weigh just 58 grams each (roughly the weight of one egg) and have a battery life of up to eight hours. That means you can keep jamming anywhere, without a dedicated space, while you’re traveling or just out and about.

The PocketDrum 2 Ultra also includes 12 sound kits and more than 100 grooves that span rock, EDM, pop, and even singing bowl tones. Users can explore new sounds, improve their range, or just unwind however they want. Even if you don’t have musical experience, the PocketDrum 2 Ultra is easy to pick up, with features like Auto Groove that help build a sense of timing and beat. The device can also be used for MIDI creation if you want to capture and edit your rhythms.
Another great feature is the PocketDrum 2 Ultra’s headphone connectivity, which lets you jam without disturbing anyone around you. This comes in handy for late-night sessions, traveling, or even playing in public spaces.
Compared to the previous-gen model, the new PocketDrum 2 Ultra gets an upgraded companion app for more control over the experience, in addition to usage tracking. On the app, you’ll be able to check the Bluetooth connection and battery life, and you can switch between Manual Mode and Auto Mode for more flexibility. You can also customize drum sounds and rhythms in the app and record performances to post on socials.
The PocketDrum 2 Ultra is a great gift idea this holiday season — whether for music fans, gadget enthusiasts, or curious beginners — especially for anyone looking to discover new talent or find some inspiration.
The Aeroband PocketDrum 2 Ultra will be priced at $189. However, the brand is running an early bird special from Oct. 20 through Oct. 31, giving shoppers a $40 coupon when they purchase the device. Learn more about the PocketDrum 2 Ultra on Aeroband’s website here.
