He goes out, he doesn't go out. They should do it, it's not appropriate for them to do it. Ever since Oasis announced their reunion leading up to their 2025 tour, the idea that they might release a new album hasn't stopped circulating.
A couple of years ago Liam Gallagher had joked on X about the album's release and then asked them to calm down (“There is no Oasis album in the making, I was fucking joking”). Yesterday he returned to the topic.
In response to yet another fan calling for a new Oasis album, he responded: “No, I'm not prepared for criticism if it doesn't sell 100 million copies in the first hour alone, if it doesn't cure the nation's bad breath and constipation, and if it doesn't turn back time for Cher (a reference to If I Could Turn Back Timeed) and other bullshit. Let's just do some concerts and be happy, thanks.”
For once, he seemed sincere in his own way. But if they ever released it, what would it sound like? “I'd like to think it would still sound like Oasis and we wouldn't turn into a bunch of electronic umbrellas desperately trying to keep up with THE BOYS, you know brother?” In April he wrote that “people would complain if it wasn't up to par with the classics and all the music magazines would give it 4 stars out of 5, we'd cry, the pressure would become too much and we'd melt down again, so screw it.”
Obviously shortly before he had replied to another fan in a sarcastic way by writing the album “it will be released next week”. Prompted by other X users, Gallagher said that “I almost lost my mind” during the halftime show of the World Cup and responded in his own way to System of a Down who made fun of Oasis in concert: “It hasn't gone unnoticed, they'll be receiving something in the post very soon.”
