Charli XCX has revealed details of her new album, “Music, Fashion, Film,” arriving July 24 via Atlantic Records. The album cover, photographed in black and white by long-time collaborator Aidan Zamiri, brings together three symbolic figures who recall the title of the work: the musician John Cale of the Velvet Underground, the stylist Marc Jacobs and the director Martin Scorsese.
Through Instagram, the artist summarized the project with an essential formula: “11 songs, 30 minutes and 5 seconds”. The album was preceded by the singles “Rock Music” and “SS26”. Below is the cover.

“Rock Music” had fueled discussions after an interview with British Vogue, in which Charli declared: “I think the dance floor is dead, so now we're making rock music.” The singer later clarified the meaning of her words with an ironic post on social media: “A video of me making a song called 'Rock Music' which isn't actually rock. It's funny, because I never said I was making a rock album.” The album's title comes from a line in “SS26,” in which Charli sings, “We're walking on a runway that leads straight to hell/ Nothing's going to save us, not music, not fashion, not cinema.” The presence of John Cale on the cover is no coincidence: the two already collaborated last year on the soundtrack inspired by “Wuthering Heights”.
“Music, Fashion, Film” arrives after the long-running success of “BRAT,” an album that continued to generate attention well beyond its release. In the last year Charli has also intensified her film activity as an actress and contributed to the soundtrack of the film “Mother Mary”.
The artist will likely perform new material live at a number of major festivals over the summer, including Chicago's Lollapalooza, San Francisco's Outside Lands and the Reading and Leeds festivals in the UK in August.
