Harry Styles
March 6
In his album number four Harry Styles tries to demonstrate that he is (also) something else. We understood it from his first single, Openingsand the recent performance at the BRITs. Whatever happens, his is one of the most anticipated albums of this semester. And we can't wait to hear it.

Make-Up Is a Lie
Morrissey
March 6
It is the imperfect self-portrait of a British music legend who perceives himself as a victim, despises the music biz and sings about its abyss, keeps the point. And every now and then he still manages to hit some remarkable pieces, especially when he sings about himself or offers portraits of people in free fall. Make-Up Is a Lie It's comedy and tragedy. You can find it reviewed at this link.

Big Mama
Flying Lotus
March 6
An EP that the musician describes as «an electronic explosion of experimental, maximalist and hyper-fast energy». There are seven pieces enclosed in a single composition, without loops. «I wanted the pieces to look like they were shot out of a cannon, an explosive and unpredictable energy, a fucking computer gone crazy, a machine that just lost its mind». We wait confidently.

AA.VV.
March 6
It is not just a charitable project and therefore a good and right thing. It's also an opportunity to hear quite a few gems: Beth Gibbons remaking the Velvet Underground, Damon Albarn duetting with Gian Chatten from Fontaines DC and with Kae Tempest, Aroof Aftab and Beck singing Lilac Winenew pieces from Black Country, New Road and Last Dinner Party, one almost prog-folk, the other with echoes of Patti Smith. And then, among many, Arctic Monkeys, Big Thief, Cameron Winter, Fontaines DC, Wet Leg. At this link the history of the project.

The Set Up
The Delines
March 6
Life on the margins of America. The Set Up was born when Willy Vlautin (ex Richmond Fontaine and member of Delines, as well as an appreciated writer) started composing songs that were not in tune with the mood of Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom. «They expressed a solitary desperation. I realized that I was writing pieces that belonged in the same world as Mr. Luck & Ms. Doombut from a different point of view”, that is, stories of “drug addicts, scammers and losers, and not the adrift romantics” of the other album.

The girl who played the piano
First room on the right

«The common thread that unites the songs is probably the urgency with which they were born, they are all songs born and finished in the space of one afternoon at most and this thing has a very great value for me, above all there is a lot of emotion that I managed to channel into music in the way that was able to reflect me the most», says the producer behind the Prima stanza on the right project. Among the songs on the EP, You don't want anyone produced with Dardust. Electronics and falsetto voice, interesting.

Rubble
Thunderbolts
March 13
With Rubblealbum number four, Fulminacci returns to talk about fragility and generational contradictions. A record that alternates lightness and restlessness, transforming everyday details into small emotional epics. We had the taste in Sanremo with Stupid bad luck.

Play Me
Kim Gordon
March 13
Twelve pieces, almost all under three minutes in length, also very different, always strange, but more immediate than those of the last one The Collective which relaunched Kim Gordon. «We wanted the songs to be short. We wanted to do it very quickly. The album is more focused and perhaps more confident. I always work on rhythms and I knew I wanted an even more beat-oriented album than the previous one. Justin (Raisen, the producer, ed) understands my voice and my lyrics and understands how I work, which I felt even more on this record.”

«We recorded it in eight to ten days», says Chris Robinson who describes it as a natural progression from the previous one Happiness Bastards. «We experimented more, we wrote following the instinct and sensations of the moment. Rich brought a spontaneity to the album that I can't describe, but it's the best thing I've ever done.” For Rich Robinson, «it's a transformative album. Going back to our roots, we felt that spark in the studio.” Listen Propane Prophecy for a first judgement.

Is This All There Is?
Anna Calvi
March 20
An EP of four pieces, all in collaboration with other artists, presented as the first piece of a trilogy of records that explore the concepts of identity and metamorphosis. Not bad partners: Iggy Pop, Laurie Anderson, Perfume Genius, Matt Berninger of the National. For Anna Calvi the four are united by «a sort of subversive honesty. They don't try to please anyone. They express exactly who they are.”

Seventeen covers: from the Cure to the Clash, from the Beatles to the Byrds, passing through Marilyn Manson, New York Dolls, Bob Dylan. Chaotic and unpredictable, the Dandy Warhols: «For years now we've been talking about collecting all the covers we've made for specific territories and publishing them for everyone to listen to. We finally succeeded.” The title is taken from the Bowie covers of 1973.

Agony
Chiello
March 20
Chiello's music is a visceral flow that mixes pain and romance. This new chapter arrived after Sanremo consolidates his unconventional identity in the new Italian pop.

«We did something different than usual. We travelled,” Samuel told us of the group's album which comes out as the band celebrates its thirtieth anniversary. «Usually our explorations are at home: we imagine, but standing still. A very Turin thing, just think of how Emilio Salgari wrote adventure novels. This time we allowed ourselves the luxury of travelling.” I'm out Radio Mogadishu And Time in me. At this link is our cover story.

We saw it live and can confirm.

Sexistential
Robyn
March 27
Who knows what the pop world would have been like today without Robyn. Luckily we don't have to wonder since Robyn is here and, after eight years, she's back with a new hit album. An album that talks about sexuality, in vitro fertilization, independence. But always with irony and that emo-dancy attitude that makes Robyn unique in the panorama, even today at 46 years old.

Honora
Flea
March 27
Don't expect the Red Hot Chili Peppers. For his first album under his own name, Flea assembled a band of “modern jazz visionaries” performing original pieces and covers. Among the guests, Thom Yorke and Nick Cave. The idea for the album was born in 1991, while the bassist was acting in Gus Van Sant's film Beautiful and damned. In a statement, Flea says he feared that super band of jazz musicians would consider him “a son of a bitch who doesn't play, a charlatan, a cheap rocker or a fan” and instead they shocked and moved him with their generous and supportive spirit. «Playing with them made me feel like I was under the influence of a drug». Ready to experience it.
