The Milk stage in Turin has transformed into the epicenter of world instrumental rock. On the occasion of their European tour, The Aristocrats stopped in the Piedmontese capital to present live the narrative and sound universe of Duck, their latest and brilliant concept album. The result? A sold-out concert that gave the audience an experience with a devastating and unpredictable impact.
For those who love great music, the names on stage need no introduction.
Guthrie Govan on guitar, Bryan Beller on bass and Marco Minnemann on drums make up what is, hands down, one of the most technically impressive power trios on the planet. Yet, reducing their performance to a simple demonstration of virtuosity would be an unforgivable mistake.
What makes the Aristocrats unique is the ability to blend a disarming compositional complexity with a massive dose of irony and theatricality. Between one song and another, the three musicians constantly dialogued with the Milk audience, telling the absurd stories behind the genesis of the new pieces, which gained extraordinary power and dynamics on stage.
Minnemann's polyrhythmic passages, Beller's monumental bass lines and Govan's alien improvisations fit together perfectly. The sound oscillated relentlessly between avant-garde jazz, progressive metal and the most visceral rock, always maintaining an overwhelming groove.
The intimate atmosphere of Milk did the rest, eliminating distances and allowing you to experience the almost telematic interaction of three giants of the instrument just a few meters away. A memorable evening that ended only after two very generous encores, leaving the clear feeling of having witnessed something unrepeatable.
