After the change of location that took the concert from Alcatraz to Santeria Toscana 31, Steel Panther returned to Milan for the Italian leg of theEurope Twenty Twenty S€X Tourconfirming the particular format that has characterized the performances of the Californian band for over twenty years: a balance between concert, comic show and homage to the glam metal of the Eighties.
Born in Los Angeles at the beginning of the 2000s, Steel Panther have built their career by proposing an ironic reinterpretation of hair metal imagery, exasperating its stereotypes through provocative lyrics, double entendres and constant interaction with the public. Alongside the theatrical component, however, the musical aspect remains central, with a band made up of highly experienced musicians who perform a well-established repertoire live.
In Milan, the audience responded in large numbers, participating right from the start in the continuous gags between one song and another, which is now an essential element of Steel Panther concerts. The provocations, improvisations and long moments of dialogue with the audience alternated with the group's best-known pieces, including Death to All But Metal, Friends with Benefits, Gloryhole And Fat Girl (Thar She Blows)maintaining a constant pace throughout the show.
As per tradition, the show was not limited to the performance of the songs, but gave ample space to entertainment, involving the audience with skits and jokes that represent one of the band's distinctive elements. A formula that continues to divide those looking exclusively for a rock concert and those who, instead, participate precisely for the more theatrical and irreverent aspect of their proposal.
The French opened the evening Lucie Suewho presented a compact set characterized by modern hard rock sounds with alternative influences. The performance helped warm up the audience for the arrival of the headliners, offering a coherent introduction to the rest of the evening.
Steel Panther's return to Milan therefore proposed a show faithful to their identity: a live show in which music, comedy and provocation go hand in hand, in front of an audience that knows the rules of the game well and continues to participate with enthusiasm.
