The round table with the immense has just ended Sal Da Vincian exclusive meeting that comes as the perfect culmination of a memorable season and, at the same time, as the imminent prelude to a new recording chapter destined to leave an indelible mark in the hearts of the public.
The Campanian artist presented himself at this event with the media on the shock wave of absolutely extraordinary months, which have definitively consecrated him – after many, many years of apprenticeship – among the absolute protagonists of the national and international music scene. The recent journey of Sal Da Vinci it was a non-stop triumphal ride: first the consecration and success on the prestigious stage of the Sanremo Festival, where he convinced critics and audiences with his Forever yesfifth to last Eurovision Song Contest 2026.
After this truly golden period, the artist is preparing to release his new recording project, significantly titled precisely Forever yes. Produced by the master Adriano Pennino and distributed by Atlantic Records Italy, Warner Music Italy And Cose Productionthe album will be available starting next May 29th on all major digital platforms and in traditional physical formats. Here's everything Da Vinci told us in the preview.
Interview with Sal Da Vinci: “Forever yes
Sal, let's start from this magical moment. You come from the global and viral success of “Rossetto e caffè”, then Sanremo and the extraordinary fifth place at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. Has this path changed your approach to music and experimentation with new genres, such as the bachata of “Poesia”? Is your son Francesco also involved in this evolution?
“It always surprises me when a sincere, honest and truthful message reaches the public. This album collects the antibodies that I have tried to insert into my heart in recent times. It speaks of family, of pain, of feelings rediscovered or sworn for eternity. I have always made pop music, music that tells the story of feelings; I frequented the cultured music of Roberto De Simone And Claudio Mattonethe great tradition of Neapolitan song that changed the cultural march of the country. The term “neomelodico” is often used to ghettoize those who come from Naplesbut it just means “new melody” and I feel part of the genius of Italian music.”
“My son Francis has an important role, I always have my ear turned towards the world. Times and languages change, but the forms of love remain the same: when we fall in love we are all a little dazed! Those who do this job must learn new habits, but the “meat” is the same. The overwhelming success of Lipstick and coffee in 2024 it was born almost for fun: we self-produced it and distributed it on my son's birthday. It has exceeded 600 million streams, something I can't explain. I experience it as a divine reward for all my years of resistance and resilience. Everything that arrives today is a giant gift for someone like me, used to conquering things step by step, with crumbs.”
On the album there is a very intimate song, “Somigli a me”, sung with your son Francesco. At the same time we find “I want to love you again”, a profound dedication to your father. How did this piece come about and how much do you miss sharing these triumphs with him today?
“You look like me it was born as a need, a father's desire to hear an analysis from a son, given that in neurotic daily life we often speak little to each other. Instead I still want to love you it was born directly in pain, an unbearable pain for the loss of my father, which time does not always heal. At first I struggled to even sing it in the studio, so I left it in the drawer. Then, during the show Storiesthe director Luca Miniero and the actor Ernesto Lama they convinced me to bring it on stage. The first few times my voice broke, I cried and the people in the front row cried. That moment created a crazy emotional impact. Over time I found the courage to record and orchestrate it to exorcise the suffering. Music must serve this purpose, to help people overcome traumas. People don't give a damn about frills, pretenses or who has the most beautiful body; the public wants to be excited, they want truth”.
How are you physically after the tour de force between Sanremo and Eurovision? How do you manage stress and your vocality at these rhythms?
“I lead a very linear life: I don't drink, I don't smoke, I avoid acidic foods and I have a strong sense of responsibility. But the recent rhythms have been deadly. Before Sanremo I did forty performances at the theater every night in December. Then the festival, and immediately after I was catapulted into the circusEurovision from 6 to 17 May. There we rehearsed from 8:30 in the morning until 1:30 at night. One day I found myself walking down a corridor with 176 consecutive interviews! In the evening I was no longer of any use, but the voice had to be there for the stage.
In all of this, sometimes you read the malice of “keyboard lions” or fake know-it-alls who know nothing about music and write nonsense about how your voice breaks down, talking about saucepans and hot water. We artists and journalists have a great responsibility towards children who read, because words remain in the ether. I prefer not to waste time and scroll through social media just to respond to my fans. As the great one said Roberto Vecchionithe “high song” is not the intellectual one, but the popular one that goes into people's hearts and makes crazy noises. If this album makes you reflect even for a moment, I will have already won.”
In this mosaic of sounds there is the signature of Adriano Pennino, your historic producer. What was it like bringing together such different souls and uniting your story with authors of the new generation?
“Music thrives on contamination. Adriano Pennino he has been following me for twenty years and is a great musician; he was extraordinary in putting together the ingredients and finding the key to songs like Forever yes or for the turning point of Lipstick and coffee. Unfortunately he left us three months ago Vincenzo D'Agostinothe poet of my melodies, with whom I had written many pieces before his passing. This album is also for him, it's a gut album. But I also wanted to rediscover the value of sharing with young people, acting as an aggregator of souls. In the team of new authors there are formidable twenty-year-olds like Federica Abbate, Alessandro La Cavamy son Francis And Ciro Cremonese. Fusing our background with their freshness was natural”
At Eurovision you showed great empathy with all the other countries. What does such an experience leave you with from a human point of view?
«It was a wonderful meeting between cultures and, even before that, between human beings. I felt like I was living in a global village of feelings. We formed a group, we sang together every day. It is a magical experience that I will carry in my heart forever and that perhaps will never be repeated again. Many of those guys still write to me today, asking me for collaborations or to do covers, because the track Forever yes It's going strong all over the world. Now I'm ready to bring this party live: we'll start with the instores on May 30th, then I'll fly in North America to embrace the Italian communities and the official summer tour will begin from July 9th Locarnowhich will culminate with three major special events in September atFlegrean Arena of mine Naples.»
