The video clip of is online I wave to youthe song by Patrizia Laquidara feat. El Coco contained in Florulathe singer-songwriter's recording project artistically produced together with Edoardo Piccolo. The video, directed by Riccardo Melonbrings a family story into images: the one between an aunt and a nephew, now a rapper.
I wave to you: from memory to song
When he was a child, Marco sat on his aunt's lap. Those knees became a boat, the river transformed into the sea, and each wave opened the way to imagined places. Years later Marco became El Cocoyoung rapper, and that game became a song: co-author and performer of the song together with his aunt.
At the center is a simple and universal gesture, a hand waving goodbye during a journey. An image that recalls summer, discovery and freedom, but also the moments in which a shared road changes direction and it becomes natural to say “I'm going down”. A nod that contains the time spent together and the memory of what remains.
“It wasn't just a musical collaboration. It was the meeting between an aunt and a nephew, between two generations of the same family and two different ways of writing, of singing, of being in the world, giving us trust”tells Patrizia Laquidara.
The video clip directed by Riccardo Melon
The video was born in a climate of spontaneity and improvisation, without a pre-established script: it leaves room for the places and images that emerged during filming.
A wheat field discovered along the way, a hill dear to the artist, a hammock brought home from a trip to Brazil and a tropical green beetle lent by a friend become moving drawings, where the real world meets that of the imagination.
The poetry of Lorenzo Maragoni
I wave to you was born from a poem by Lorenzo Maragonipoet and world poetry slam champion, with whom the singer-songwriter co-wrote the lyrics. A bond, the one with the poetic and performative word, which runs through his entire journey.
The song intertwines electronic pop, Brazilian suggestions and singer-songwriter writing, and ideally closes the genealogical circle of Florula: an album that starts from family memories, with the great-great-grandmothers mentioned in No one should remain on the outsideand reaches the new generations.
Flòrula, the album released in two parts
Florula (Lunanordesina) was released in two parts: the first part in February, the second upon completion of the project. A choice that the singer-songwriter explained as the desire to make the album live longer, giving it the form of a book to which new pieces are gradually added.
The work combines singer-songwriter writing, electronics and choral sounds, and puts the voice at the center as a narrative tool. Crossed by encounters with Antonio Vargas of the Delicates, Puccio Castrogiovannia choir of female voices and Brazilian percussionists from the outskirts of Recife, the album finds its center in No one should remain on the outsidesung with Giulia Mei.
