The Doors back to the cinema. On 13, 14 and 15 July Oliver Stone's film will return to Italian cinemas in its version The Final Cut restored in 4K with Dolby Atmos audio.
The original negative of the biopic with Val Kilmer (Jim Morrison), Meg Ryan (Pamela Courson) Kyle MacLachlan (Ray Manzarek), according to a press release, was digitized in 4K 16 bit. The restoration was handled by L'Immagine Ritrovata in Italy and the color correction was supervised by the director who shortened a final scene.
“I wanted the film to be as immersive as possible, to recreate the authentic Doors experience of the '60s,” says Stone.
Released in 1991, the film contributed to the revival of the myth of Jim Morrison, but was also criticized for its excessive spectacularization and for the too free reworking of the facts denounced by the members of the Doors themselves.
