Jennifer Finch, historic bassist for L7, has died at the age of 59 after dealing with an aggressive form of brain tumor. The band announced it with a message published on social media: «With a very heavy heart we announce that our beloved bandmate, friend and companion on raids Jennifer Finch passed away today. He bravely faced a long battle with a brain tumor.”
In a second statement, L7 remembered the musician as “an authentic original”, underlining that her spirit, her humor and her creativity “helped shape the band and changed our lives forever”.
Finch made her diagnosis public earlier this month, explaining that she was undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain tumor. At first it was thought that the disease could be treated with radiotherapy, but some complications made several surgeries necessary.
Having joined L7 in 1987, Finch helped define the band's sound during the nineties, returning to the lineup in 2015 and participating in the album Scatter the Rats of 2019. In 2011 she had already been diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
