Ben Harper returns to Italy with the Innocent Criminals for a new live date. The American singer-songwriter will be the protagonist of Rock in Roma 2026 on June 29, performing in the Cavea of the Ennio Morricone Auditorium Parco della Musica. Considered one of the most eclectic artists of his generation, Harper has built a career capable of effortlessly crossing pop, rock, blues, soul, folk, reggae and funk. In over thirty years of activity he has published 18 studio albums, sold more than 16 million records and won three Grammy Awards, also establishing himself for the social commitment that characterizes many of his lyrics. In 2023 he received a Grammy Special Merit Award nomination in the Best Song For Social Change category.
During his career he has won Grammys in the categories Best Traditional Soul Gospel Album, Best Pop Instrumental Performance and Best Blues Album, also obtaining numerous nominations in the gospel and blues fields, as well as awards such as the NAACP Image Award and the Blues Foundation Song of the Year.
An in-demand songwriter and collaborator, Harper has written songs for artists such as Mavis Staples, Natalie Maines, Tom Morello, Taj Mahal, Rickie Lee Jones, Charlie Musselwhite, Solomon Burke and The Blind Boys of Alabama. In the studio he worked, among others, with Harry Styles, Keith Richards, Jack Johnson, John Mayer, John Lee Hooker, Ringo Starr and Ziggy Marley, while live he shared the stage with Pearl Jam, Paul McCartney and Bruce Springsteen.
His latest album, “Wide Open Light”, released in June 2023, also contains “Yard Sale”, a duet with Jack Johnson. The album followed “Bloodline Maintenance”, a work strongly inspired by political and social themes which earned him a Grammy nomination in the Best Contemporary Blues Album category.
