Bad Bunny arrives in Milan for one of the most impressive musical events of the Italian summer. On Friday 17 and Saturday 18 July, the La Maura Hippodrome will welcome a total of 157 thousand spectators, around 78,500 for each of the two evenings, both of which have been sold out for some time. Numbers never achieved before in Italy by a Spanish-speaking artist and which tell the story of the transformation of Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio from protagonist of the Puerto Rican urban scene to global superstar.
The previous Italian concert dates back to 2019, but since then the artist's dimension has changed radically. Bad Bunny has conquered the international charts without giving up its language and its roots: no transition to English or Spanglishbut a production entirely in Spanish capable of overcoming the traditional boundaries of the Latin market.
World bestseller
Already in 2020, “El Último Tour Del Mundo” had become the first album entirely in Spanish to reach the top of the Billboard 200. With “Debí Tirar Más Fotos”, released in 2025 and also reaching first place in Italy, Bad Bunny has further expanded its language, combining reggaeton and trap with salsa, música jíbara and Puerto Rican popular tradition. It is precisely the last album that constitutes the narrative center of the new show. The “Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour”, which started on November 21st from Santo Domingo, includes 57 concerts and has exceeded 2.5 million tickets sold. More than a simple tour built around hits, the show presents itself as a long celebration of Puerto Rico, its music and its identity, also addressing issues such as emigration, gentrification and the risk of erasure of collective memory.
On stage this approach takes shape through a show lasting close to three hours, divided into several sections and capable of continuously changing atmosphere. The most explosive and perreo-related moments alternate with nostalgic passages, live arrangements and more narrative parentheses. The presence of a band, with wind instruments, percussion and references to salsa, distances the concert from the model of many contemporary urban shows based almost exclusively on pre-recorded sequences.
La Casita: symbol and controversy
The visual symbol of the entire project is “La Casita”, the reproduction of a typical Puerto Rican house located in the middle of the audience. With the roof transformed into a second stage, the patio and the pink plaster, the structure should evoke a neighborhood party and give the public a familiar image of life on the island. During the tour, however, “La Casita” also became the subject of controversy. Access to the facility was often reserved for celebrities, influencers and selected guests, while only some spectators were able to enter. A management which, according to critics, risks transforming a symbol of popular culture and resistance to gentrification into an exclusive area intended for a privileged few.
Added to the discussions on the selection of guests was the story of the original house that would have inspired the scenography. The owner of the house, a man over eighty years old residing in Humacao, claims to have authorized its use only for the filming of a video and contested its subsequent reproduction within the tour, as well as the influx of fans in front of his property.
The contradictions do not, however, erase the cultural significance of the show. Bad Bunny has built a good part of its public identity by questioning some stereotypes of trap and reggaeton, addressing domestic violence, discrimination, the rights of the LGBTQ+ community and gender violence. His participation in the Super Bowl halftime show also transformed Puerto Rican symbols and sounds into a message against racism and US immigration policies.
The concert lineup in Milan
In Milan the public will therefore witness something more complex than a traditional collection of hits. The repertoire will span the last album and the different phases of the career, with songs such as “Tití Me Preguntó”, “Yo Perreo Sola”, “Safaera”, “Dákiti”, “Yonaguni”, “Monaco”, “Callaíta” and “Ojitos Lindos”. In the previous European dates there was no shortage of guests and variations, leaving open the possibility of surprises even during the two Italian concerts.
