vote7.5 Bands: HOLD MY OWN Duration: 00:21:13 Available from: 04/17/2026 Label: Daze Style The hardcore community very often sees the birth and death of multiple projects created by the interchange of musicians within the scene, especially within the same geographical area. The frequenting of the same environments, the support of the groups and the infinite line-ups of every single concert only help the conception of new projects, more or less serious: some don't even make it to the recording studio, others develop quite quickly. The latter is the case of Hold My Own, who were born in 2021 as a bridge between…
About 15 years ago, Kwesi Darko, under his Blue Daisy alias, was hailed as the next Tricky or Burial or Flying Lotus or Massive Attack, depending on who you asked. His debut album, The Sunday Gift, offered all the playful energy associated with the experimental L.A. beat scene of the time, but rubbed with a distinctly London grit, Technicolor synths strobing across dark corners. He was tipped by tastemakers from Mojo to Mary Anne Hobbs and sent touring around the world—at which point Darko decided he’d had enough of other people’s expectations. Stubborn, mercurial, and determined to do things his…
In her 2022 song “Sioux Falls,” Jesca Hoop looks out an airplane window and sees a whirling vortex the size of a stadium. Is it a body of water? A crop circle? No—as the plane descends, the scene comes into focus: thousands of men, women, and children, spinning “like thread around a spool,” terror on their faces, trampling those who lose their footing. The uncanny vision is made even eerier when Hoop spots her late mother dragging her five children through the human tide. Despite the grimness of the scene, the tone of the song is peppy and disorientingly pretty,…
The Jamaican patois is back on the Popcaan dancehall cut “Amazing Shape,” and while they’ve made better songs together before, the groove is smooth and he’s got just the right amount of dick puns: “You could make a dead man rise,” Drake sings, a little flat but still catchy. He found a new muse via his TikTok For You Page in viral rapper Stunna Sandy, who I never thought of as anything more than an Ice Spice variant, until “Outside Tweaking,” where she sounds like a star flirting with Drake over the lush Jersey club breakdown like he’s the middle-aged…
When Drake surprise-dropped three albums last week, his friend and frequent producer Gordo was as surprised as everyone else — even though he'd been working on the music for the last year and a half. “I knew it was going to be two albums,” he tells Rolling Stone on a recent call. “I didn't know it was going to be three.” But Drake kept his entire rollout a secret, even from his closest collaborators. That meant that on May 15, when the album trilogy swept the internet, Gordo did what most fans did: He spent time listening through the three…

Ike Willis, the singer and guitarist who spent a decade with Frank Zappa and starred on his three-disc rock opera Joe's Garagedied on Saturday, May 16, his family confirmed to Rolling Stone. vote7.0 Bands: ILIENSES TREE Duration: 00:38:50 Available from: 01/05/2026 Label: Meuse Music Records We had left Ilienses Tree just before the pandemic with the debut “Till Autumn Comes”, where the reference coordinates of the Sardinian formation were shown – that is, a death/doom metal with dark connotations, in the wake of bands like Officium Triste, Mourning Beloveth and early Paradise Lost; we find them today presenting their second chapter, “Toward The Storm”, under the aegis of Meuse Music Records. The music of our band goes well with the imagery of a maritime storm, evoked right from the cover: the force…

READ MORE: Live Through This: Blondshell’s fearless debut is one of 2023’s finest The Los Angeles musician – real name Sabrina Teitelbaum – dropped the song as the first taste of an upcoming album. Employing her signature monotone and stirring lyrics, the track mimics the sound of an overworked heart and charts the fallout of a fraying friendship: “You give me paws / You get me scaring strangers /…
