Canada has been admitted among the participants in the 2027 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Bulgaria. Mumford & Sons have a short break in their touring schedule, so they’re holding auditions for the role of “Marcus” in their new video for “Here,” a track that featured Chris Stapleton on this year’s Prizefighter. A plucky, boot-scuffling, upbeat ditty with lyrics about finding oneself, “Here” is the sort of song made for Mumford (and technically made by Mumford since he cowrote it with his bandmates, Ben Lovett and Ted Dwane, with co-producer Aaron Dessner). So Mumford ought to be a shoo-in, right? Well, it turns out Mumford has some stiff competition, and, worst of all, he’s first up.…

Taylor Momsen has spoken to NME about The Pretty Reckless’ “extremely vulnerable” new album ‘Dear God’, and explained how “tapping into the innermost, darkest corners” of her mind has “relit” a fire that they haven’t seen since their debut album. The new record arrived on Friday (June 26) as the fifth from the New York rock veterans and the highly anticipated follow-up to 2021’s ‘Death By Rock And Roll’. Speaking to NME over Zoom, Momsen explained how it is potentially their most “vulnerable and emotional” to date. As well as tackling themes of grief and depression, which Momsen has spoken…
Eurovision will continue its intercontinental expansion in 2027 by allowing Canada to compete, according to the BBC. The announcement of a new country competing, the first of its kind since Eurovision welcomed Australia in 2015, arrived on Wednesday, one day ahead of the country's Canada Day holiday. Other non-European countries that have competed over the years include Israel and Morocco. Organizers ruled North American country could compete after the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which governs the song contest, allowed the CBC/Radio-Canada fully into its fold last week. Even though the inclusion feels warm and cuddly, the move is notable as…
It's hard to think of Noah Kahan as an independent artist. After all, the 29-year-old Vermont-bred singer-songwriter recently notched three weeks at Number One on the Billboard 200 with his new album, The Great Divide, and is currently on a sold-out stadium tour. But to hear his manager Drew Simmons recount his own path to success, it becomes clear that indie roots run deep in the organization. Simmons, a native of Buffalo, New York, got his start interning for Ani DiFranco, whose Righteous Babe Records was based in town. The singer built her career outside of the major-label system, becoming…
