Fans of grizzled country vignettes would be hard-pressed to find a safer pair of hands than Colter Wall, the Saskatchewan-raised singer-songwriter whose traditional approach to the song form has alienated him from the modern country establishment, but, ironically, won a loyal underground following. As the title suggests, his Little Songs follow-up, Memories and Empties, treads lightly into the big questions with a series of drinking songs and musings of plainspoken existentialism. Longtime collaborator Pat Lyons co-produces with Wall, and the Scary Prairie Boys assist.Listen on Apple MusicListen on SpotifyListen on TidalListen on Amazon MusicBuy at Rough TradeSummer Walker: Finally Over…

A batch of Jeffrey Epstein’s emails released by House Democrats Wednesday reveal that the late convicted sex offender wrote in 2019 that Donald Trump “knew about the girls” in Epstein’s sex trafficking case, despite the president’s constant denials over the years. It’s unclear what exactly Epstein meant when he said Trump had…
After the author Richard Bachman was outed as a pseudonym for one of the single most popular English-language writers of the late 20th century, his creator felt the need to address the “why” of it all. In an intro for The Bachman Books, which collected four of the novellas penned under that name, Stephen King explained that he took on the literary alter ego partially as a blind taste test for readers, and partially as a way of publishing more work without saturating the market. There's another reason, however, that can be read between the lines of what King describes…

“Orbit Orbit” is a comic-disc. […] The link between music and sequential art has so many illustrious examples that one might think that the two languages are somehow related. […] I started from the need to tell myself through the drawn strips rather than through music, as I was used to doing.[…] You understand well that this tango between notes and drawings really required a lot of time and concentration for the two media to dance without stepping on each other's toes, given the urgency of having both come out together, literally: on the same day.(From the final pages of…
