Joined by Stephen O’Malley on guitar and Lucy Railton on cello, Malone recorded the album at Thomaskirche in Leipzig, Germany—the church where Johann Sebastian Bach served as cantor for the last 27 years of his life and was subsequently buried. She performed on the church’s Bach Organ, a modern instrument based on baroque tunings and temperament. The jury found Davis guilty of one count of murder with a deadly weapon in a drive-by attack in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996.
