W hatever you think of James Comey, it’s hard to argue with this: No unelected official this century has been at the center of so many high-stakes controversies in Washington, D.C., with so many serious consequences for the country. As deputy attorney general in the George W. Bush administration, Comey squared off against Dick Cheney and senior White House aides over where to draw the line on warrantless wiretaps and secret torture. In 2016, as FBI director, Comey infuriated Democrats when he decided to give a press conference, lone-wolf-style, to announce that Hillary Clinton, then the Democratic nominee for president,…

The sibling instrumental duo will release their new album Los Ojos del Cóndor via Easy Eye Sound in September In a world of trending TikTok dances and short attention spans, the existence of a duo like Hermanos Gutiérrez is almost radical. Their instrumental-only sound is complex but infinitely listenable, with live shows that command a trance-like focus as they take the stage together, looping and creating every beat. On their new album, Los Ojos del Cóndor, due Sept. 25, the Swiss-Ecuadorian brothers of Alejandro and Estevan Gutiérrez take their sound from desert landscapes to the mountains and coasts of Peru, the home…
vote7.5 Bands: HAEMOTH Duration: 00:46:17 Available from: 05/22/2026 Label: Agony Records Fifteen years can seem like an eternity, especially in a context like that of black metal, where entire currents are born and disappear within a few seasons. This is why Haemoth's return with “Black Dust”, a new album recently released by Agonia Records, has something unexpected. Released without any particular noise around, almost as if the French band wanted to tiptoe back onto the scene, the album instead represents a reappearance that is anything but irrelevant, bringing back into the spotlight a group that many had now stopped waiting…
Legendary broadcaster Bob Harris has decided to step down from BBC Radio 2 after over five decades due to “ill health”, and described the move as “one of the hardest decisions of my life”. He has shared a statement explaining that the move was done due to health issues, and expressing what it meant to be a part of the station – which he describes as the “Champions League” – for 30 years. “It’s incredible to think…

San Francisco trio Midrift are one of alternative music’s fastest-rising names. Arriving at a time where shoegaze is at its commercial peak – and where almost anything drenched in reverb and emotional ambiguity gets labelled as such – ‘Silhouette’ finds Midrift stepping directly into that conversation. But as the album buckles beneath the weight of its influences, it’s sometimes difficult to tell exactly what the band themselves are trying to say. The group have already amassed millions of streams through viral singles like ‘Twin Flames’ and ‘Unrequited’, building momentum through support slots with Fleshwater and Angel Du$t, and even landed…
