Penske Media Corporation (PMC) — the parent company of Rolling Stone and other publications like Billboard, Variety, and The Hollywood Reporter — has acquired Vox Media, home of Eater, The Verge, and more. Prior to the acquisition, PMC was the largest shareholder of Vox Media, whose titles also include SB Nation, PopSugar, The Dodo, and Thrillist. With Vox’s titles now joining PMC’s preexisting portfolio, Penske has formed the new subsidiary PMX, officially becoming the largest publisher in digital media with 25 titles in the aggregate. LionTree acted as financial advisor to Vox Media, and Clifford Chance US as legal advisor,…
The UFC's event at the White House was the perfect target for a terror attack: America's elites, clustered around a small octagon in the open air for hours. A chaotic, packed city center. Plenty of cops and soldiers, to be sure, but then again, there are few defenses for a fast, deadly drone. As I sat through the event last weekend, I half expected something to go wrong. We seemed like sitting ducks, in a country that has amped itself up for political violence at every turn. Earlier this week, the FBI claimed that they had foiled just such a…
Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Hudson, Christina Aguilera, and more also on hand for opening of Obama Presidential Center and Library in Chicago The Obama Presidential Center and Library opened Thursday in Chicago, with its grand opening ceremony touting a guest list that could rival any music festival: Bruce Springsteen, U2's Bono and the Edge, the Roots, Stevie Wonder, and more. The Roots kicked the proceedings with a funky rendition of jazz great Donald Byrd's “Change (Makes You Want to Hustle)” that followed into their own “You Got Me” and later transformed into a bluesy take on Bob Marley's “Get Up, Stand…
The massive success of Bad Bunny's Debí Tirar Más Fotos world tour has helped him break several records, according to Billboard Boxscore, which has tabulated tour data for the past four decades. Most significantly, the tour, which included stadium gigs in South America, Australia, Asia, and Europe, propelled his total gross touring revenue beyond the $1 billion mark, making him not only the first Latin artist to achieve this distinction but for artists who don't perform in English. Fewer than 25 acts have achieved this feat. Additionally, his disinterest in touring in the United States made the tour the highest…

“I've been to certain concerts and festivals where people wear diapers just to be in the front row during the show.” Apparently Olivia Rodrigo's statement comes from personal experience: «It was something that as an artist I… smelled».The pop star told English Kiss FM when Tyler West and Chloe Burrows asked her what was the worst place she was forced to do her business.Rodrigo is convinced of this and gave an extra-musical example, the New Year's Eve ritual in Times Square. “They all wear diapers, they sit there all day. I think about it often.”Olivia Rodrigo on people wearing diapers…
Sleep, the legendary stoner and doom-metal band, have returned with their first new music in eight years and plans for a North American tour this fall. “Have Spacesuit Will Travel” is out now via Third Man. But wait: it’s also getting the flexi disc treatment as part of a bundle for Sleep Comic Book, the first issue of a new comic book written by frontman Al Cisneros and illustrated by Dave Kloc and Arik Roper.Arguably even bigger news than that, though, is that the band’s lineup has changed. Cisneros remains as Sleep’s singer, bassist, and lead songwriter, but their wild…
Craig Finn is staring down the barrel of a jam-packed 2026. Tierra Whack has a message for her critics: Start drafting the apology. The Philadelphia rapper returned Tuesday with “Totem,” a razor-edged new single that doubles as a warning shot ahead of her upcoming mixtape, Whack's Museumarriving June 19 on Juneteenth. Clocking in at under two minutes, the track strips away distractions, leaving Whack alone at the center of a sparse beat as she dismantles doubters and reasserts her place among hip-hop's most inventive lyricists. “But I was born a stepper, so I'll take the stairs / Yeah, aura so bright, it could light arenas,” she sings in “Totem.” “Totem” arrives…
Mark Wystrach of Midland refuses to accept the fact that he once owned overalls. “Nope, not me,” he says, seated on a velvet couch in a mysterious secret wing of Garth Brooks' Nashville bar, Friends in Low Places, his feet kicked up on the coffee table. Today, he's wearing jeans, a striped pearl snap, and a hat, but I remind him that, last time we met up around the release of their second album Let It Rollthere was a mustache, a mullet, and most definitely a pair of overalls. He still denies it. Am I sure? “You had overalls on…
