After completing the promotional run for their last album, 2017’s Hug of Thunder, Broken Social Scene locked into a years-long nostalgia circuit. The Toronto collective celebrated the 20th anniversary of You Forgot It in People with an extended tour, a Record Store Day reissue, a collection of covers by the younger generation they influenced, a graphic novel reimagining the LP, and a live album recorded in 2003; then came a broader compilation of B-sides and rarities, and a full-blown documentary about the band’s early years. Despite saturating themselves in the past, Broken Social Scene never bothered with the pervasive question…
Non è un’operazione nostalgia. Non c’è alcuna patina celebrativa, nessuna distanza museale. I brani vengono suonati come materia viva, instabile, aperta.
From classical to rock, musicians tune instruments to a standard frequency. For at least 80 years it has been 440 Hz, which defines the frequency of A above middle C, with the other notes being tuned accordingly. However, more and more artists in various genres are questioning this standard by preferring 432 Hz tuning. It is only slightly lower and yet for them it makes all the difference in the world.Radiohead's Ed O'Brien became interested in the topic a dozen years ago, when he was at the Glastonbury festival. «There I had a stimulating chat about the ancient solfeggio scale…
There ain't no place I'd rather beBut I've gotta go, I've gotta run awayAt a certain point, the assumption that Karnivool would never release a new album stopped being an exaggeration. The Perth band, one of the most relevant groups to emerge at the turn of the 1910s thanks to a refined balance between alternative rock, heavy metal and progressive, had left an almost unbridgeable void after “Asymmetry” (2013). The first news about a successor began to circulate only six years later, but the history of the group foreshadowed the usual long and complex gestation. To complicate the picture, the…

Interpol have signed to Partisan for their new album, saying that the move has made them feel like they are “in ideal company on every level”. The New York indie giants have been teasing a new record for a while now, which will be their eighth studio album and the highly anticipated follow-up to 2022’s ‘The Other Side of Make-Believe’. Already, they have dropped two tasters of new material – the captivating track ‘See Out Loud’ which has made it into all of their recent shows since March, and the charismatic ‘Wings Of Fire’. The latter was played live for…
Less than two months after FKA Twigs filed a lawsuit against the Twigs, alleging the indie band sent multiple cease-and-desist letters over the trademark connected to her stage name, twin sisters Laura Good and Linda Good are now firing off trademark claims of their own. In March, the Grammy-winning artist born Tahliah Barnett filed a lawsuit against the duo, claiming they have known about her use of FKA Twigs since 2013. In an email exchange, Barnett allegedly offered the band $15,000 to allow their musical entities to “co-exist,” without needing to purchase the name from them. According to the complaint, “Laura and Linda…
“Let’s talk about the album. It was a motherfucker to make,” Lykke Li told an audience gathered to hear her sixth studio album ‘The Afterparty’ at a playback in Los Angeles earlier this year. Offsetting her need to make something more “extroverted, impulsive and chaotic” than predecessor ‘EYEYE’, as she told NME, against the cultural backdrop of Trump and AI while raising two kids, the Swedish alt-pop icon found herself in a place that “feels like it’s 4am and the sun is going to rise”. This is the last push before the hangover, the fear and the consequences kick in;…
Video interview with Serena Brancale finally landed on the record market with her new album, SACREDwhich arrives several years later, since social media became aware of her with Salted cod. SACRED it contains everything that 'La Zia' has published in recent years, without skipping anything because everything is part of the journey and the story. A story that took a long time to develop because, by his own admission, he was waiting to have and find within himself a song like the one from Sanremo 2026 or even To My Countrywhich he later closed with Levant And Delia Buglisi. Serena…
