Dave Marsh, a renowned rock critic and biographer, has died. An early editor of Creem who also wrote for the Village Voice, Rolling Stone, Newsday, and more, Marsh penned the first authorized biography of Bruce Springsteen, Born to Run: The Bruce Springsteen Story, in 1979, among other books. He died on August 14 at his home in Connecticut; a cause of death has not been publicly disclosed. A trustee for the fund argued in court documents that due to California’s “slayer statute,” Reiner is prevented from using the funds to defend himself against charges that he murdered his parents, director Rob Reiner and photographer-philanthropist Michele Reiner.
