Elton John presented at the New York Film Festival Never Too Latethe documentary directed by RJ Cutler and David Furnish in which he recounts his most successful period, accompanied however by a profound existential crisis. All narrated recently, before his last performance in the United States, in 2022 at Dodger Stadium. The documentary (on Disney+ from December 13th and in some American and English theaters in November) also contains a previously unreleased song.
In New York the musician launched into a description of his health conditions, counting the parts of his body that have been removed or replaced by prostheses. «I no longer have my tonsils, appendix, prostate, right hip, right knee and left knee. The only thing I have left is my left hip. To be honest, there isn't much left of me.”
In September, Elton John explained that due to an infection he had limited vision in one eye. “But I'm still here,” he said in New York, where he performed a surprise performance Tiny Dancer. «And I can never thank you enough, you are the ones who created me. I want to thank David, Zachary and Elijah (her husband and two children, ed) for making me the happiest man in the world.”
«As you know, I have decided not to tour anymore because I am 77 years old, I have done everything and played everything», said the musician who gave his last concert in Stockholm in July 2023. «The music will continue to be part of my life, but now the most important things are David, Zachary and Elijah, family, friends. I found utopia.”
