“LOOKING FOR PEOPLE TO UNFOLLOW” is an intense and personal project, born from the desire to eliminate everything that drains energy and distorts the perception of reality. The artist tells: «The systems, the trends, the illusion of continuous connection. I find strength in being honest and direct, especially in this moment in time and as a woman who grew up in a culture that told me I couldn't be».
The energy of the project emerges clearly in “SORRY! CRASH!“, which follows the singles already released “MOLLY”, “CRUISING TO SELF SOOTHE”, “BLEED BUT NEVER DIE” And “THEN THERE'S ONE”.
The album was recorded and produced by Here together with Richie Buxton in the producer's childhood bedroom, and, regarding the creative process, the artist declared:
«We eliminated everything that no longer represented us: deadlines, metrics, the constant pressure of having to “stay visible” online. We moved away from the noise of social media to really look inside ourselves. In Richie's childhood bedroom we built a small home studio: four walls that, over time, became our entire universe. The internet connection was very slow, and this allowed us to completely disconnect from the dynamics of the online world.
Nestled in Melbourne's bayside suburbs, far from our inner-city friends, that room became our world for almost two years. It welcomed all our chaos, but also all our clarity: a sort of creative refuge where we can go back to living, playing and experimenting like teenagers. We started creating with our hands again, giving value to something tangible, imperfect and authentic.
We wanted to celebrate the concept of the album as a complete work, at a time when everything seemed to be reduced to fifteen-second fragments and content built for algorithms. So we left behind the noise of the music industry, outside opinions and pressures, to build our own safe space. And, honestly, it was the best choice we could have made.”
Over the course of his career, Here's Vandal has performed on stages at some of the world's biggest festivals, including last month's Coachella, and has shared the stage with the likes of Limp Bizkit, Queens of the Stone Age, IDLES And The Prodigy. His high-intensity performances have become a real trademark, thanks to a style that blends punk, jazz, hip hop and electronic in a unique and immediately recognizable sound proposal.
