After the experience ad Friends 25, Cate Lumina returns to tell its story through Catalinaher first EP: a project that unites two languages, two cultures and two places that continue to coexist within her. On the one hand Milan, where music is taking shape; on the other, Minorca: home, family and roots.
In short, Catalina was born from the meeting between nostalgia, distance and the desire to build something of one's own, transforming intimate emotions into songs.
“More than a title, Catalina is a part of me.”
“Catalina”: two identities that become one
The EP's title doesn't come by chance. Catalina it is in fact the name with which Catherine it has always been called Minorca, the Spanish equivalent of its name. A choice that perfectly encapsulates the meaning of the project: bringing together the two souls that coexist in his daily life.
In fact, on the record it is Spanish and theItalian they intertwine naturally, without forced constructions or experiments thought out on the table:
“Even in speech I often mix the two languages.”
“catalina”: Nostalgia as a common thread
In Catalina images linked to absence and distance from home often return.
And lo and behold – after leaving Minorca at 18 to move to Madridand then embark on a new path a Milan – Catherine he says he has developed a strong nostalgic side, which today he feels is part of his character.
“I am also nostalgic in relationships and loves”.
A sensation that clearly emerges also in songs like Sin Tiin which he questions what he is building and the meaning of chasing such a big dream far from home.
“I felt lost and told myself that maybe it was just a matter of time.”
But it was precisely at that moment that music became a refuge, a fixed point.
“The home I find in Milan is music”.
