After the aftermath of “Hangover” Zak returns with the new single “If you don't exist”, a track that marks a change of direction compared to the summer rhythms of the previous single. With synthpop sounds and darker, autumnal atmospheres, “Se non esisti tu” explores profound themes such as awareness, acceptance and the fragility of existence.
Zak describes the song as “a journey between presences and absences, between fears and inner strength”. The title, carefully chosen, contains a strong message: to become ghosts, we must first have existed. The chains of our insecurities and memories of past relationships become something eternal, transcending appearance.
“If you don't exist” talks about the human condition, how we only feel alive when there are two of us, and how devastating the moment when this unity breaks can be. But even in that fragility, there is strength. Zak adds: “I don't exist if you don't exist.” This new single represents the second solo release for
Zakalready known as the band's voice and author Nocturnal Animals. With “If you don't exist”, the artist addresses those who have loved, love or will love, exploring the concept that love is at the same time our greatest condemnation and the most powerful of substances in a world often dominated by appearances.
ZAK
Born in Brescia and raised on the shores of Lake Garda, Zak he picked up his first guitar at the age of 10. In an unsuspecting era where music, to be discovered, required not modern digital platforms but rather physical media, between an old turntable, cassette tape and CDs, he spent his adolescence discovering, understanding, listening and falling in love with music itself. In the same years he formed his first group and then in 2003 he created and played in the garage band “The Oranges” as bassist.
Subsequently, Speedliner was born and in 2014-2015 he collaborated with Fausto Zanardelli (Edipo – Coma Cose) in the same singer-songwriter's project. In 2018 he founded “Nocturnal Animals” (active band of which he is currently the singer). The need to write and explore new dynamics led him in 2022 to start his solo parallel project using the pseudonym that has accompanied him all his life.
Besides being his name Zak is an onomatopoeic sound, a cut, a blow, an idea. His main musical influences find inspiration in Battisti's songwriting, passing through Vasco Rossi, Afterhours, Verdena and Negrita to name a few, his myths are and remain David Bowie and Lou Reed. For Zak the music is a journey in progress, something messily Punk and delicately Pop.
