You’re gonna need a bigger bookshelf. Universal Pictures announced a new 50th Anniversary Blu-ray reissue of Steven Spielberg’s Jaws this week. It comprises a collectible Steelbook and a standard 4K release, and arrives amid ongoing celebrations for the iconic film’s semicentennial, including theatrical re-releases and merch collabs.
While Blu-ray releases are often announced months in advance, this reissue is swimming toward its release date faster than a great white. Both sets will be released on June 17, and are available to preorder now.

Jaws – 50th Anniversary Limited Edition Steelbook
The 4K steelbook features a redesigned outer cover, featuring the film’s characters and classic scenes from the movie, as well as Bruce’s gnarly maw. The inner cover is an ominous “Beach Closed” sign.
As expected, there are plenty of bonus features as well, including a featurette on the notoriously troubled making of Jaws, deleted scenes, and storyboards. These features are shared across both the Steelbook and standard 4K release.
Amazon
If you prefer the classic Jaws cover art featuring Bruce and the swimmer, the standard plastic Blu-ray case will be your best bet. That version is available for preorder from Amazon and Walmart. Both retailers offer a preorder guarantee; if the price drops between the time you ordered it and the release date, you’ll be charged the lowest rate in that window.
If you (somehow) still haven’t seen Jaws, Rolling Stone’s ranking of Spielberg’s movies placed it at #2. “[T]he film has lost none of its power after all these years, in part because of its ruthlessness: In Spielberg’s hands, the shark becomes not just a great movie monster, but also an existential fact – consuming its victims with little care for who they are…”
