The pop group will release their new EP, Wild, on Friday
Katseye took the stage at The Tonight Show to showcase their recent single, “Animal.” Four members of the group, Daniela Avanzini, Yoonchae Jeung, Lara Raj, and Megan Skiendiel, joined forces for a rousing performance of the pop number. Notably absent was Sophia Laforteza, who recently announced she is taking a hiatus for her mental health.
“Animal” was co-written by Ed Sheeran and produced by Omer Fedi and Blake Slatkin. The single will appear on Katseye’s upcoming five-track EP Wild, out Aug. 14. It follows the release of “Pinky Up,” which arrived ahead of their Coachella debut and officially launched their first EP without Manon Bannerman, who remains on hiatus from the group.
The singers sat down with host Jimmy Fallon to discuss the EP and the group’s missing members. “We have nothing but so much love and support for Sophia and Manon,” Raj said. “And it’s beautiful to see how the Eyekons give them so much support and also continue to support us as we’re here.”
Katseye have described Wild as a new era for the group. “How do you describe this era?” Fallon asked. “Wild,” Avanzini said. Raj added, “I’d say maturity. Growing up.”
They also explained that the collaboration with Sheeran on “Animal” came about after meeting him at the NRJ Awards in France. “He came to us and was like, ‘I’ve got this song for you,’” Raj recalled. “He wrote it with Blake and Omer, who are the guys who wrote ‘Touch’ for us as well. So it was like a full circle moment and we love it.”
Following the release of Wild and the theatrical release of their movie Katseye: Wild Hearts in August, Katseye will embark on the Wildworld Tour. Kicking off in September, the trek will make stops in cities across North America and Europe including two nights at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena.
The group teased the sold-out tour to Fallon. “I feel like it will hit me once I get there because it’s our first arena tour,” Jeung said. “It’s a much bigger stage. I’m a little bit nervous. And it’s very exciting.”
