It was the most anticipated release of the month, perhaps of the year, however those waiting for the arrival of the new Strokes album will have to put their hearts at rest and wait a few more weeks. The band has in fact announced that Reality Awaitsthe seventh studio work, will no longer be released on June 26th as expected, but on July 24th. A postponement of about a month, for which no official explanation has been provided for now.
To better understand the anticipation surrounding this album, it's worth remembering that this is the first LP since The New Abnormalreleased in 2020. A return that therefore comes six years later, and which fans follow with particular trepidation. So far the album has been preceded by two singles, Going Shopping And Falling Out of Lovehowever received in a rather lukewarm manner. Above all, what caused discussion was the use of the vocoder on Julian Casablancas' voice, the same effect already heard in 2013 in the famous collaboration with Daft Punk in Instant Crush or in more recent songs like At the Door.
The news of the album's postponement, however, comes alongside the announcement of a special concert in New York, scheduled for October 2 at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. The live will be the band's first in their city since 2023, accompanied by Beach House, TV on the Radio and Fcukers.
