The soundtrack of “The Little Girls” gives voice to childhood memories and fears
Set in the summer of 1997, the film tells the world of Linda, Azzurra and Marta through a precise sound identity that recalls the nineties without giving in to simple nostalgia. Music does not simply accompany the images, but contributes to building emotions, tensions and moods.
For Lorenzo Confettasound becomes a narrative tool capable of representing characters, places and internal transformations. Each protagonist has their own musical dimension, while the adult figures are accompanied by more disturbing and disturbing sounds.
“The sound wanted to represent the characters, the places and an entire season of life, of a traumatic summer, telling the story of the search for happiness and growth through pain and fantasy”explains the composer.
when sound design becomes storytelling
One of the most particular aspects of the project is the attention paid to sonic details. Apparently marginal elements, such as the buzzing of mosquitoes, take on a precise dramaturgical value and contribute to defining the atmosphere of the film.
In the same way, hardcore sounds and references to the rave culture of the Nineties become part of the narrative language, evoking an era and accompanying the emotional journey of the protagonists.
The soundtrack is in fact born from a continuous dialogue between musical composition, sound editing and sound design, until it is transformed into a single narrative experience.
