G. Mineiroborn Edoardo Sobrero, born in 2001, works on Funk BH, a movement born in Belo Horizonte and derived from Brazilian funk: minimal structure, bass in the foreground, lyrics built on recurring themes. It's a little-attended scene in Italy, and this explains some of the attention it has received.
His language mixes Italian and Portuguese slang, with references to faith and spirituality. About his music the artist declares:
“My music is a reinterpretation of the funk of my country in Brazil. I lived in a place where there is hunger, where you have to make do. I decided to recreate these sounds in Italy to tell what I live, my present, in a straight and linear way.”
Who is G. Mineiro
Born in 2001, he grew up between Brazil, in the area of Ipatinga and Belo Horizonte where he lived until he was seven, and Italy, between Turin, Milan, Piedmont and Liguria. At sixteen his mother sent him back to Brazil, to Salvador de Bahia, an experience from which the G.Mineiro artistic project was born.
He began publishing in 2023 with Malditafollowed in 2024 by Favela from Italy, Pique Bandido And Specialist.
