Less than two years after the release of “Luck and Strange“, David Gilmour already seems to be looking ahead. The British musician was in fact spotted in the recording studio, fueling speculation about a possible new recording. The idea of not considering “Luck and Strange” as the last chapter of his career was anticipated by Gilmour himself. In an interview given last year, the guitarist declared that he intended to make another album, surprising those who considered the 2024 album a sort of artistic farewell.
Some images shared on social media by his wife and collaborator Polly Samson rekindled fans' expectations. In the photographs, Gilmour appears at work in the studio. “It's much cooler in the studio than outside this week,” Samson wrote alongside the posts, without adding further details on the ongoing project.
For the moment it is not clear whether the English musician is recording material for a new album or working on other initiatives. However, his words from a year ago suggest that the prospect of a successor to “Luck and Strange” is anything but remote. “I hope that, within a fairly short period of time, I will be immersed in the work and become obsessive as I always do when I dedicate myself to something like this,” he explained.
The studio activity comes as interest in the universe of ex-Pink Floyd continues to be alive. In the meantime, the “Luck and Strange” tour, which also visited the Circus Maximus in Rome, has already left a legacy of the concert film and live album “The Luck And Strange Concerts”, published as evidence of the last tour.
