Daniele Silvestri come back with Deckchair Songs (live in the studio)new album for Epic Records / Sony Music Italy. A project that recovers some less exposed songs from his discography to present them in a new guise, starting from the idea that a song can continue to speak to the public even years after its release.
This is not a celebratory collection nor a simple rereading of the repertoire. The aim is to bring attention to compositions which, according to the Roman singer-songwriter, deserve a new listening opportunity.
Deckchair songs, an album that looks beyond novelty
The project was born from a reflection that recalls the logic of second hand. Just as an object can acquire new value through reuse, a song can also find a new place away from the dynamics that constantly push towards the latest release.
It is no coincidence that the presentation of the album was organized at one of the sales points Humana Vintagea reality linked to the non-profit organization Humana People to People Italyactive in various countries through international cooperation projects also financed by the sale of preloved garments.
The songs recorded in trio and live
Deckchair songs (live in studio) it was recorded as a trio. Next to Daniele Silvestri There are Davide Savareseon drums and percussion, e Marco Santoroengaged between bassoon and trumpet.
The choice of an essential lineup led to stripping the songs of their original arrangements to put words, melodies and interpretative nuances at the center.
The entire work was also recorded live, without overdubs. The songs were performed and recorded live, maintaining breaths, small imperfections and moments born during the performance.
New readings for already published songs
Deprived of the original productions and rethought in a more intimate dimension, the songs take on different meanings and show aspects that in the past could have remained in the background.
The album invites a slower and more concentrated listening experience, far from the fast enjoyment that characterizes much of contemporary music consumption.
