In the wake of the reception given to the recent single “Ride Lonesome”, defined by NPR”exciting and produced with care equal to that of his most beloved works“, now comes the official release of the new album: later “Hyperspace” he arrives “Ride Lonesome”the new and highly anticipated collection of unreleased songs from the GRAMMY winner Beckout on September 18th.
The album will also be available in Standard CD and LP formats and in two colored vinyl formats from the Universal Music and Feltrinelli Shop.
Beck says:
“My new album Ride Lonesome will be released this fall. The musicians from my original lineup, with whom I recorded and toured Sea Change, Morning Phase and Mutations — Smokey Hormel, Joey Waronker, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Roger Joseph Manning Jr. and Jason Falkner — reunited with me in my favorite studio, Room B at United Studios in Hollywood.
Nigel Godrich, who had already worked with us on Sea Change and Mutations, returned to mix all the songs. It had been a decade since we last went into the studio to record Morning Phase. This time I had the feeling that our playing and chemistry between us had evolved and deepened: a sound matured through decades of working together.
Even though we were returning to a physical and musical place that was familiar to us, we also had the sensation of discovering new sounds and new emotional nuances along the way.”
Ride Lonesome's announcement is accompanied by “In The Night“, second song from the new album.
Described as an intense but delicate ode to nocturnal reflections“In The Night” is accompanied by an evocative cinematic video directed by Mikai Karl, produced by Ryan Smale and starring Denis Lavant (Beau Travail, Mauvais Sang).
As “Ride Lonesome”, Also “In The Night” recalls the soundscapes and evocative atmospheres of “Morning Phase”winner of the GRAMMY for Album of the Year in 2015, and its spiritual predecessor, the classic “Sea Change” from 2002. Both songs also feature the participation of several musicians present in these fundamental works.
Produced by Beck and mixed by Nigel Godrich, these new songs mark a return to a different yet familiar artistic direction, anticipating the artist's new creative chapter.
