Melissa Auf der Maur is back with her first (sort of) new album in 16 years. On Bass Womb Room: My ’90s 4-Track Demos x Field Recordings, the former Hole bassist links a trove of unreleased, living-room demos she made in the 1990s with eight new interludes composed for a forthcoming photography exhibition. Those interstitials are partly built around old field recordings Auf der Maur made by placing a handycam on her amp during her time with Hole and as a touring member of the Smashing Pumpkins. Jim Gilstrap, the soul and R&B vocalist known for his work with Stevie Wonder, his solo hit “Swing Your Daddy,” and singing the Good Times theme song, has died. He was 79. Gilstrap died on July 18 from natural causes, according to a statement from his family. “Beyond the recordings and performances, Jim was admired by his peers for his professionalism, humility, generosity, and genuine love for music,” the statement read. “While many of his greatest contributions happened behind the scenes, his voice became an essential part of the soundtrack of generations.” After spending the Sixties singing in groups like…

The newest generation of Avengers assemble in the official trailer for Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday, which is set to hit theaters on Dec. 18.  The new clip offers the most extensive look yet at the film, which will find the myriad heroes of the multiverse teaming up to face the supervillain Doctor Doom.
