Doug Shaw, a veteran New York-based indie musician known for his work as Highlife and with bands including Gang Gang Dance and White Magic, died on Tuesday (May 26) of a stroke. He was 43.Known to many as “Sleepy” Doug Shaw, the musician was born in London in 1982, and moved stateside to New York in 2003. Ronald LaPread, a founding member and former bassist of the Commodores who performed on the group’s hits including “Brick House, “Three Times a Lady,” and “Easy,” has died. He was 75. Soraya LaPread, his daughter, confirmed the news on Saturday via social media. “It is with very heavy heart that I must announce that my Father Ronald LaPread has passed,” she posted.
