After a five-year break from studio releases, Andy Stott has returned to his toolbox for a new album. Late Loop, a press release notes, is the product of fewer tools than usual: The British producer made the record using no basslines, no reverb, and no effects but a delay unit. The follow-up to Never the Right Time arrives October 30, via Modern Love. Watch Kitty Handley’s video for new track “Something in Mind” below. After evolving from an experimental drone album to “something like brass band concrète,” Stott decided he wanted the album to be more song-led, the press release notes.…
W hen I first met Rahm Emanuel, almost 25 years ago, he had a pretty solid reputation, in some quarters, as an arrogant prick. Rahm — even then, he needed only one name, like Cher or Snoop — was recognized by his fellow Democrats as a brilliant political tactician, which is how he had risen to become one of Bill Clinton’s chief enforcers in the White House. But he was also known to be self-certain, occasionally thuggish, and unusually crass. (For many years, there seemed to be a rule in journalism that one couldn’t write about Emanuel without prudishly noting…

Alanis Morissette has filed a lawsuit against her ex-tour manager – accusing her of blackmail and an extortion scheme over airport trafficking charges. The filing was made yesterday (Tuesday September 1) at a federal court in California, and saw the singer call her 2025 European tour manager, Keren Urinov, “a disgruntled” former employee, and accuse her of extortion, fraud, and negligent misrepresentation. She alleges that Urinov blackmailed her with issues regarding drug trafficking charges, in an attempt to pressure the ‘Hand In My Pocket’ singer to sign a 15-year-long contract. Most acts wouldn’t even dare to dream of performing in front of thousands of people at one single stadium, let alone dozens of them, before their debut studio album has even come out. But that’s precisely what’s happened to Puerto Rican quartet Chuwi.
