By most any reasonable standard, The Last Waltz is one of the greatest concert films of all time. Not only did filmmaker Martin Scorsese forever capture the last time all five founding members of the Band performed a full set together, but they were joined by one of the most impressive lineups of guest artists in rock history, including Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, Neil Diamond, the Staple Singers, and Dr. John. The movie was shot in beautiful 35mm celluloid, Scorsese and his team decorated the stage at San Francisco’s Winterland Ballroom with…
It's 37 degrees outside and the air conditioning has just broken. So when actor and musician Finn Wolfhard declares to the camera that we're in a “heat-apocalypse”, he's only half-joking. Despite the warm, muggy air wafting through NME's sweaty video studio on Denmark Street, London, the 23-year-old Canadian is in fine detail throughout our interview. Famed for playing Spielbergian teen Mike Wheeler in Netflix's Stranger Things and for fronting several indie rock bands, Wolfhard seems pleased to be focusing on his own projects at last. In this case, that's 'Fire From The Hip' – his first new album since the…

Paola Turci public Lackavailable from Friday 24 July for BMG. It is the second excerpt from Love beyond measurethe album of unreleased songs expected on October 2nd, and addresses only one thing: lack, told without seeking consolations. Below are the lyrics and meaning of the song. The meaning of Manchi by Paola Turci The song was born as one of the most intimate moments of the album, so much so that the choice to anticipate it before the next official single is in itself a statement: the Roman singer-songwriter puts before the public not the most immediate piece, but the…

The MCU has had its ups and downs since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, but 2021’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was an undisputed high point, with visceral martial-arts action and comedy moments that actually managed to be funny. It seemed inevitable that the film’s director, Destin Daniel Cretton, would return with another Marvel project, but it’s taken a while; his Shang-Chi sequel is still in development, and he spent a year or so attached to the never-made Avengers: Kang Dynasty, which ended up being replaced by the Russo brothers’ Avengers: Doomsday, due in December. But this year, Cretton…

Rush are reportedly in talks to lock in a residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas. The rumours come amid the Canadian prog legends embarking on their ‘Fifty Something’ tour earlier this year, which sees Geddy Lee (vocals, bass) and Alex Lifeson (guitar) team up with drummer Anika Nilles. The shows are seeing them break out classics from across their discography, and celebrating the life and legacy of late drummer Neil Peart, who undeniably shaped their distinctive sound and died in 2020 after quietly battling brain cancer for three years. Now, following the tour kicking off in June with the…
