The Rocky Horror Picture Show will be adapted and shown at the Las Vegas Sphere in 2027. The 1976 cult classic will be the latest movie to get regular screenings at the 20,000 capacity venue, following on from The Wizard Of Oz becoming the first to be adapted to fit the 160,000-square-foot screen, and already bringing in around $400million (£298million) in ticket sales (via Consequence). Set to start showing from next year, Sphere Entertainment will use “advanced technologies” to increase the quality and size of the original film, so it looks right on the Sphere’s curved interior display. “Through Sphere…
Luigi Mangione appeared in Manhattan criminal court on Wednesday, where Judge Gregory Carro unsealed Mangione’s defense team’s motion to potentially seek a “psychiatric defense” on the basis of “extreme emotional disturbance” at the time of the shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Mangione, who sat in between his lawyers and wore a dark blue suit, was quiet throughout the brief hearing and held a folder up in front of his face for most of the time photographers were allowed to take pictures. The 250.10 (1b) notice that was unsealed refers to a “notice of intent to proffer psychiatric evidence” and…
Walter Parazaider, a founding member of Chicago who played several wind instruments in the band, including sax, flute, and clarinet, died June 17 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was 81. Rolling Stone has confirmed his death. Parazaider’s long tenure in Chicago stretched from their earliest incarnation in 1967 until 2018, when he stepped off the road due to health issues. Along the way, he played thousands of concerts, appeared on nearly all of the group’s albums, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016. “He had put up a good fight with…
This year, Amy Grant's hit single “Baby Baby” turns 35 years old. The song, off the 1991 album Heart in Motiongave Grant her first chart-topper as a solo artist. Previously, she had hit Number One as part of a collaboration, the 1986 duet with Peter Cetera “The Next Time I Fall.” In a new interview with Rolling Stone's Nashville Now podcast, Grant, who had made her career to that point in the Christian music space, says her record label at the time worried she couldn't carry “Baby Baby” alone. “They wanted me to duet with somebody. They talked about Aretha…
President Donald Trump is so confident in his supposed ceasefire deal with Iran that he's — once again — threatening to bomb them to smithereens if they “don't behave” or try to make any further changes to the agreement. Trump and his administration have been exceedingly cagey about the contents of the agreement, which was supposedly signed by the two nations over the weekend. It's not actually a fully fledged deal, as Vice President JD Vance revealed during an interview with ABC News, but a “memorandum of understanding.” It's basically an agreement to make an agreement. False starts are not…

Available on all major streaming and download platforms starting Friday 19 June, Shadow in the Sun (Artist First) is the new single Goddess Culpa And Hi, I'm Vale. The song “it's about a relationship that takes you completely, even when you know it's hurting you“, say the two artists. Then they add: “Two people continue to look for each other amidst chaos, endless nights, excesses and moments in which it seems like they are totally lost inside the other. There is so much emotional confusion: Sometimes it feels like love, other times it just feels like addiction to the way…
Journalist James Verini’s new book, The Theater: Courage and Survival in the Defining Atrocity of the Ukraine War, tells the story of Ukrainians who turned a Mariupol dramatic arts theater into a haven for refugees after Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022. In this excerpt, Verini tells the story of aspiring actors Liza and Dima, a young couple who coped with the war by turning it into a play — before the theater was ultimately destroyed by Russian bombs. The siege of Mariupol began as the Ukraine War began, in the predawn of Thursday, February 24 of 2022. Armored columns carrying…
If you walked anywhere near Midtown Manhattan over the last decade, you were likely bombarded with a fleet of rickshaws blasting the 2009 concrete-jungle anthem “Empire State of Mind” through makeshift speakers. To some who live here, it’s one of the reasons to avoid Times Square—that is until last week, when the New York Knicks’ playoff run ended in the city’s first NBA championship in 53 years, sending residents into the streets to hug strangers and sing Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ hit at the top of their lungs. With the song getting a fresh soundtrack-of-the-city moment, I rang up Al…
Four years after surgery for a strained vocal cord prompted Jon Bon Jovi to take a break from touring, the singer says he's ready to hit the road for Bon Jovi's upcoming Forever tour. “I'm fully recovered,” he recently told People. “It was longer than I'd ever expected, but it had to be right. We never lost faith.” Bon Jovi also had complimentary words for his bandmates, whose patience he praised. “They never doubted [me] and never looked for work or decided to retire,” he told the magazine. “The sacrifices that each one of them have made to be there…
