Get in, losers: We're going to the Renaissance Faire. Phoebe Bridgers just announced her first solo album in six years, Lost Weekendand now she's shared the first taste of that album — a new single called “Lost Boys.” The single opens with a few seconds of filtered vocals through a vocoder effect before Bridgers' familiar voice enters. “This machine is killing me/I pretended it was make believe,” she later sings, with celebratory trumpets that hark back to “Kyoto.” The chorus is euphoric, as Bridgers details the “lost boys” in question, who never grow up, never go home, and never spend…
Discovering new music has never been so complex. It may seem like a paradox, but the simplicity promised by streaming and the boundless offer is illusory: without references in sight and with a mainstream market increasingly disconnected from what is moving in the undergrowth, finding your way is a difficult undertaking, which pushes many to take refuge only in historical names and revivals. With this new initiative, we want to offer a compass: a periodic look at the many strands of the music scene through our Spotify playlists, regularly updated by the Ondarock editorial team to highlight the most stimulating…
A shy presence on the New York club circuits, K Wata is a name that is both in the shadows and industrious: half of the duo E Wata, part of the Slink collective, the latter also involved in a series of evenings that shuns the straight bass drum and the four quarters, to pursue a nocturnal and elusive tone, a showcase for those who experience the sounds of the new ambient dub. Released on Short Span, a now cult label for this scene, “Give U Space” is his debut album, arriving at the end of a trajectory measured in a…
Text and meaning of Stormthe new single by VTR feat. LILCR And Midasout June 26, 2026 for Columbia Records / Sony Music Italy. For the Campania producer and artist it is a collaboration that brings together three names from the new Italian pop and urban scene. The song was born from a personal episode experienced by VTR and takes shape around the theme of distance and lack, transformed however into a story supported by electronic and rhythmic sounds close to UK garage. Alongside him there is space for the melodic contribution of Midas and a verse of LILCRwhich adds a…
Tom Morello has cancelled further European dates after sharing that his 102-year-old mother Mary is back in hospital. The Rage Against The Machine guitarist had been due to continue his current UK and European solo run this week, but has now confirmed that he is heading home to help look after his mother. The announcement means Morello will no longer appear at Tons Of Rock Festival in Oslo tomorrow (June 26) or BBK Music Legends Festival in Bilbao on Saturday (June 27). Refunds for his rearranged headline London and Paris shows will also be available at point of purchase. In a statement shared on Instagram tonight (June 25), Morello wrote: “Dear friends,…

Cher's effort to place her son Elijah Blue Allman under a California conservatorship faced new hurdles Thursday when the rock heir appeared by video from a locked psychiatric facility in New Hampshire without a lawyer, and the judge separately questioned whether she had jurisdiction over the case. Cher has been fighting to put guardrails on her son's finances for years, claiming Allman, her only child with late Allman Brothers legend Gregg Allman, has “severe mental health and substance abuse issues” and can't be trusted with the $10,000 a month he receives from his late father's estate. Judge Jessica A. Uzcategui…
Finding your way around music releases is increasingly complicated. The abundance of proposals does not mean immediate access to what really deserves attention, especially with a mainstream market distant from the most interesting realities. This is why we continue with this initiative: a periodic update to explore the musical present through our Spotify playlists curated by the OndaRock editorial staff. With the recording year now in full swing, the selections become even richer: from pop without borders to evolving rock, from electronica to songwriting, up to jazz, experiments and Italian scenes, without forgetting the “dark” sounds that we have always…
One of the most intriguing proposals of recent months comes from Kent: five musicians with a varied artistic background (they boast collaborations with Sault, Little Simz and Michael Kiwanuka) who with spirit free-form they give life to a afro-synth-funk which feeds on punk irreverence, adventurous kraut sounds and ethno-psych melismas.“Outtanational” is an involuntarily exotic album, full of compelling and elegantly harsh rhythmic solutions, branded by the vocal exuberance of Falle Nioke, singer and percussionist from Guinea, who provides the right input to Graham Godfrey (drums), Josh Ludlow (bass), Steve Pringle (synthesizers) and Tom Dream (guitar). An unpredictable sound excursion that…
Mick Jagger channels his soulful “Emotional Rescue” falsetto on “Jealous Lover,” one of two newly released songs off the Rolling Stones‘ upcoming Foreign Tongues album, which comes out July 10. A video for the song, available only on Amazon Music for now, dramatizes the lyrics as Anya Taylor-Joy turns green with envy when she thinks her boyfriend, Charles Melton, is cheating on her. The couple dukes it out in a seedy motel parking lot. Eventually, they drag the fight (and each other) into the motel, as Jagger sings, “Hands off, jealous lover,” over a funky R&B backdrop. Needless to say,…
