Bay Area duo Sour Widows are readying their sophomore album. Jay Som’s Melina Duterte produced Sigil, which comes out October 23 on Julia’s War. The LP’s lead single, “Blood in the Grass,” was written by Susanna Thomson for Maya Bon of Babehoven, and comes with a found footage-style video directed by Thomson and her bandmate, Maia Sinaiko. Watch it below.
“‘Blood In The Grass’ is about fate, creating family, and finding refuge in one another in times of spiritual and physical pain,” Thomson said in a press statement. “This song is set in the natural world because all living things are the same when they are born. In nature, the state of vulnerability is a fact that is fundamental to life and can’t be obscured.”
Sour Widows released their debut full-length, Revival of a Friend, in 2024. This fall, the band will play shows with Squirrel Flower across North America in support of Sigil. Scroll down to see the tour itinerary.
