“Is that you?” Mike Rutherford asks Tony Banks. The two are listening again In the Beginningone of the tracks from Genesis' first album, when the English band was still looking for its own identity and a stable lineup, that is From Genesis to Revelation. Surprisingly sitting next to them is Peter Gabriel.
The three got together because Cherry Red and Esoteric Recordings got their hands on the 1969 album, which will be reissued in three different editions: 4 compact discs and a Blu-ray; double CD; double vinyl.
The deluxe edition, the richest one, will contain new mixes in stereo, 5.1 Surround Sound and Dolby Atmos by Stephen W Tayler, in addition to the original remastered mono and stereo mixes, singles, rare demos, unreleased material. There will also be video interviews conducted in 2026 with Banks, Gabriel and Rutherford at Air Studios, all accompanied by a 68-page booklet with an essay by Jon Dann and contributions from the four original members, i.e. the three mentioned plus Anthony Phillips, who authorized the new edition.

From Genesis to Revelation is an immature debut, produced by Jonathan King who discovered the group of Charterhouse students. On drums was John Silver. Steve Hackett and Phil Collins were not yet part of the lineup. The turning point will take place in 1970 with Trespass.
