AMP Festivalwhere AMP is both the contraction of amplifier (synonym of electric music) and the acronym of Other Possible Worlds. Other ways of understanding music, other sound expressions that live around the concept of rock and surroundings. But also another way of conceiving a festival. Not just concerts but a broad spectrum that explores, year after year, the theme chosen for each edition. So meetings, forays into other art forms and above all a lot of dissemination.
The theme of the first edition is psychedelia and, to be precise, his 60th birthday. An unrepeatable season in which imagination dominated everything, a colourful, lysergic and free imagination. It will be at the center of meetings and collateral events, with historical and critical insights.
Live side
AMP Festival opens October 27 with i Dirty Threean Australian band led by Warren Ellis, a friend of Nick Cave with whom for many years he has had one of the deepest and most fertile collaborations in the recent history of rock. A genius of the violin who on stage becomes a shamanic interpreter of music that has a powerful and dynamic sound and blends electric rock, improvisation and open structures. Without a doubt one of the concerts of the year and not only for Vicenza but at a national level given that it is an exclusive for all of Italy (from which the band has been missing since 2012) as well as the first stage of the European tour.
We then continue November 2 with one of the pillars of psychedelia of the last 40 years, the British Robyn Hitchcock. Cult artist who made history with his psychedelic folk seasoned with eccentric lyrics. In Vicenza he will perform solo acoustic for a very intimate live show.
Third concert, the November 6that of the amazing international group (formed in Italy) of C'mon Tiger. Their style is a sonic kaleidoscope that blends Afrobeat, Ethiopian jazz, funk, electronic, Mediterranean rhythms and world music in a hypnotic, experimental and danceable mix, with a mysterious and collective (often anonymous) vibe. A transcontinental journey between African roots, psychedelia and modernity.
Fourth and last live, the November 10thwith i Tortoisefrom Chicago, a fundamental group of the 90s but still among the major interpreters of something that one can almost say they invented: a non-genre that ranges from jazz to kraut rock to electronica. In the early days they were defined as the standard-bearers of post-rock but every label is reductive. Live they give their all, showing extraordinary instrumental skills and a unique show.
Prose side
On the prose side, there will be entertainment “The Rolling Stones – Paint It Black”written by Enzo Guaitamacchihistoric writer and musician, as well as collaborator in many successful projects (Quelli della Notte, DOC) who with music and videos will present the story of one of the most famous and important groups of all time with Andrea Mirò, Folco Orselli and Brunella Boschetti.
Collateral events

The dean of all Italian music critics, Riccardo Bertoncelliwill give a lecture on the birth and history of psychedelia at the opening of Robyn Hitchcock's concert. The writer and philosopher Edoardo Camurri he will focus more on the world of drugs and philosophies related to psychedelia in his talk “Ten sour biscuits”. The film critic Mario Sesti and the music critic Anton Giulio Onofri instead they will host an evening entitled “2001: sounds and visions from the psychedelic film par excellence” in which they will debate the use of images and music in Kubrick's masterpiece.
